Strava Challenge – HOKA CX2 10k

Ready for the first Strava Challenge of 2021? Want to win some new HOKA ONE ONE Carbon X 2‘s? We have joined forces with HOKA ONE ONE and Runologie to create a fun 10k for you! You’ll tackle the recently re-opened Anderson to Lassiter Mill greenway, plus some local connecting neighborhoods for an inner and outer loop that will challenge you!

And as a bonus, New Belgium has donated some beer and anyone that runs Saturday, January 23rd between 9am and 3pm will get a beer and a Sir Walter Running koozie!

What is it? On Saturday, January 23rd, with an all-new update in the HOKA ONE ONE Carbon X 2, the bar will be set again. This is Project Carbon X 2: HOKA athletes will again take on the 100K world record from the Phoenix, Arizona area wearing an all-new innovation from HOKA. Read more about the Carbon X 2 here.

Locally, we have put together an All Star Team of Triangle runners to run 10x10k to compete against other cities and these athletes. Their run will start at 9am as well. Go cheer them on at a social distance! We will post the leg order here later in the week.

In the meantime, below are details for you to run the fastest (or first) 10k of 2021!

Where do I park? There is a gravel parking lot on Claremont and you can use 2960 Claremont Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608 if you’re looking to point your map.

Where do I start? The starting place is the bollard (yellow) post on the recently re-opened greenway on the corner of Anderson Drive and Claremont Road.

Where do I turn once I’ve started? You will run the greenway (towards Lassiter Mill) for almost a half mile before veering off to the right onto Marlowe Road, where you will go left all the way up to Lassiter Mill Road. You’ll go left on Lassiter down the hill and then left back on to the greenway for 2000 meters. When you pass the start, you’ll weave around to the left up Anderson and then onto Drewry Lane. You’ll then take a right on Dell Drive and stay straight until it turns into Bellevue Road. You’ll stay to right on Bellevue and then take a left on Ramblewood Drive back to Lassiter Mill, where you’ll go left down the hill again and back on the greenway again and finish where you started. It’s basically a small inner loop then a bigger outer loop.

The yellow bollard is the Start/Finish Line
About a half mile in, you will veer to the right off the greenway here towards Marlowe and take that up to Lassiter Mill Road
You will go left onto Marlowe off the greenway jut out and go all the way up to Lassiter Mill Road before turning left down the hill and then going left back onto the greenway.
At the end of Marlowe, take a left down Lassiter Mill to the greenway
The first and second loop you’ll head left on the greenway back towards the start
At the end of Lap 1, you’ll run through the finish and go left and then left on Anderson, and then left onto Drewry Lane. At the end of Lap 2, the bollard will be the Finish Line.
After the first loop you’ll wrap around and head left on Anderson
Off Anderson, you’ll take a left onto Drewry Lane into Drewry Hills
Off Drewry, you’ll take a right onto Dell Drive and go up!
At the top of the hill on Dell, veer to the right onto Bellevue
At the top of Bellevue, veer left onto Ramblewood
At end of Ramblewood, go left back onto Lassiter Mill and back left onto the greenway to the finish!

*Note: You will be on open roads on some parts of this challenge. Please be aware of your surroundings and run at your own risk.

Where do I finish? Back where you started! You’ll run into the bollard this time, as opposed to running from it at the start.

When can I run? Anytime between now and Saturday, January 23rd before the relay is complete!

Where will I see the standings? Below, and here (Make sure you filter accordingly). Also, if you haven’t already, visit the Sir Walter Running Strava Club page (make sure and join, so that your marks count).

What do I win? The Male and Female with the fastest time will win a pair of the brand new Carbon X 2. Also, there will be a raffle for everyone that completes the challenge for another pair of Carbon X 2’s for a Male and Female runner!
