On Thursday, October 24th, Sir Walter Running will present “The 41st Day” at Alamo Drafthouse, with Filmmaker Tim Jeffreys in attendance for a Question and Answer session after the screening. “The 41st Day” is a feature length documentary on Ryan Hall, once America’s fastest marathoner, who in 2012, following a disastrous showing at the Olympic Games, controversially turns to God to coach him.
“To bring The 41st Day to the world after nearly eight years of working on it is an indescribable feeling. I can honestly say that I put everything I had into this movie, and to finish it knowing the moments of joy, sadness, confusion, frustration and hardships that I had to go through making it, makes this moment so very special. I know this story will resonate with so many people, I’m excited and honored to bring it to the world,” said Filmmaker Tim Jeffreys.
Tickets for the screening are available through Eventbrite.
“Having the opportunity to show the film in Raleigh is a full-circle moment for me. I grew up in North Carolina, my family still lives here, so it feels really special to bring something I’ve worked on all over the world home. I know the Carolina crowd will treat me right, and I’m looking forward to it very much!”
Finally, the “Autumn of Trials” season of the Summer of Miles podcast returns with weekly episodes starting late September. On Episode 49, 2019 USTFCCA Hall of Fame inductee, Coach Rollie Geiger was the special guest. We discussed his long and successful tenure at NC State, his job before coaching, recruiting in the social media age, what keeps him excited 40 years in, where he finds inspiration for the team, some key workouts the team does, changes in training theory, different areas the team has run in Raleigh, and some quick takes on Sir Walter Miler, the Krispy Kreme Challenge, and more! Tune in for a great conversation with a local (and national) legend (and stay tuned after the interview for some messages from his former athletes).
The Autumn of Trials is directed and promoted by Sir Walter Running, a Raleigh-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to “bring the Greater Raleigh running community together through innovation, activation, and inclusivity.” Sir Walter Running is a USATF club that produces the Sir Walter Miler, the Pop Up Miles series, the Raleigh RunDown Downhill Mile, the Raleigh Half Marathon, a series of Strava Challenges, including the Tour de Walter, and the Summer of Miles podcast.
