The Sir Walter Miler is directed and promoted by Sir Walter Running; a local group that consists of Pat Price, Logan Roberts, and Sandy Roberts.

Sandy and Logan Roberts both attended, and were standout runners, at Broughton High School in Raleigh. Sandy won multiple state titles and qualified for Foot Locker Nationals twice. He then went on to compete at Georgetown, and then at NC State as a graduate student. Logan competed collegiately for the Baylor Bears and has personal best of 1:50 in the 800 meters. He is now an assistant coach at UNC Chapel Hill.

Pat Price ran at Providence High in Charlotte and was an invited walk-on at UNC Chapel Hill. He is a North Carolina and Virginia-licensed mortgage banker in Raleigh at Movement Mortgage, and is also a contributing editor at the Daily Relay. In his free time, he creates running-specific homebrew recipes for Running Brewing Co.

After the 2014 Sir Walter Miler, LetsRun.com, said of the event: “Meet organizers of America, take note: this is how you put on a professional track meet.” Winner of the race, Ford Palmer, soon got a major shoe deal with Hoka One One, after his win. “It was almost a carnival on the college campus, everyone went to the race, cheered their butts off, and went back to the brewery afterwards. It was the best event I have ever been to as a track athlete,” said Palmer.

Sports Illustrated called the 2015 Sir Walter Miler the “best glimpse of future growth for American track.”

Sir Walter Running hosts the Pop Up Miles series, the Raleigh RunDown Downhill Mile, and is an official USATF club (#13-1063).
